Following the successful launch of the IC-3Rs platform in 2017, VUB along with the European Union’s Reference Laboratories for Alternative Methods to Animal Testing (JRC, EURL ECVAM) is organizing a second symposium on 8th May 2018. The symposium will focus on “Reducing the reliance on animal experiments in basic and applied research” gathering well known speakers in the field of 3R-alternative methods. The aim will be to provide high class scientific discussions promoting innovative and practical strategies for alternative methods to animal testing.

Given Obelis s.a. “Responsible Person” services for cosmetic products, we are supporting this event and are looking forward to learn about new scientific methods to overcome animal testing. Animal testing on finished cosmetic products has been banned since 11th Septemeber 2004 and on ingredients and mixtures to be used in cosmetic products placed in the EU market since 11th March 2009, respectively 11th March 2013 as indicated in the Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009/EC.
