23 April 2009 : European Association of Authorized Representatives (E.A.A.R.) Meetings

Published 23 Apr 2009

Obelis has attended the last E.A.A.R meeting in Hannover on the 8th and 9th of May earlier this year and hosted the very last EAAR meeting on September 2nd, 2008 in its Brussels premises.

The meetings focused on the latest changes to the Medical Device Directive, including the latest recast of the Directive, which fails to give guidance on the role of the Authorized Representative. The Association also discussed a new international bar code and the new requirement of the Competent Authorities for a National Contact.

The E.A.A.R. also discussed their plans for attending the Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society (RAPS) conference which was held last week in Boston, Massachusetts. The E.A.A.R. presented individually at a special session held for the Association and Regulatory matters in the European Union.

The E.A.A.R. has also jointly created a flyer, containing information on the Association and what a professional Authorized Representative should provide for their clients.

The E.A.A.R is an alliance of European Authorized Representatives who have joined forces to promote professional conduct and competence. The E.A.A.R. possesses a shared vision of enhancing the quality of European Authorized Representation. The E.A.A.R. acts as a unified body dedicated to ensuring that the designation of a European Authorized Representative accurately portrays the quality standards of a professional Authorized Representative. As an organization, the E.A.A.R. is officially recognized by the European Commission and is also involved in the political issues surrounding CE Marking in Europe. This body of representatives together has a goal to utilize the opportunity to enhance all stakeholders’ understanding of European Authorized Representatives’ responsibilities.
